35th Annual Destin Seafood Festival >>
In 1979 the women of the Destin Charter Boat Association Auxiliary sought to promote their husbands’ fishing charters and other local businesses during the off peak season. Thanks to their successful efforts, the Destin Seafood Festival was born.
The 35th annual Destin Seafood Festival will take place October 4-6, 2013 along the Destin Harbor Boardwalk. Staying true to tradition, the festival coincides with the Destin Fishing Rodeo and is free and open to the public. Organizers anticipate some 60,000 guests to help celebrate Destin’s maritime history and visions of the future. The Destin Seafood Festival offers loads of fun for fisherman, foodies, music lovers, and families alike.
Anglers competing in the Destin Fishing Rodeo for over $100,000 in cash and prizes, not to mention serious bragging rights, will weigh in daily on the docks at AJ’s Seafood and Oyster Bar. From 10 am to 7 pm, observers can get a true sense of what the World’s Luckiest Fishing Village is all about.
Some of Destin’s freshest restaurants will be serving up local seafood along the boardwalk throughout the course of the 3-day celebration. Close to 50 food vendors will provide a range of culinary treats making the Destin Seafood Festival a foodie’s dream.
Live music on six stages will have attendees jamming to Reggae, Rock, Country, and New Orleans Jazz. Chris Alvarado, The Village Brass Band, Black Eyed Blonde, Cadillac Willy, and many more will provide a nonstop weekend soundtrack.
The Destin Seafood Festival is a family friendly event, with enough activities to keep kiddos busy all weekend long. Three separate kid zones will entertain little ones with rock climbing walls, face painting, magic shows, pony rides, a petting zoo, a treasure hunt, and an old-fashioned Mingo Toss.
