We will try to keep you updated with the amazing disaster relief efforts happening all across the Panhandle to help the victims of Hurricane Michael…which devastated the area east of Destin…Panama City Beach, Panama City, Mexico Beach, Lynn Haven, Appalachiacola and many other communities.

Here we will post any information we can to help get the supplies and necessities to those in need.

Destin Area Drop-Off Locations:

Destin Commons:
Destin Commons will be housing a drop-off location with a semi-truck parked in between Bass Pro Shops and World of Beer that will be collecting all donations from 7 a.m. until midnight every day between now and Saturday, October 27. All donations of any kind are welcome and appreciated.

Volunteers are needed to man the drop off station at Destin Commons. Those interested in volunteering for a two-hour shift, please contact Heather Ruiz at [email protected] Companies interested in partnering by providing support please contact Jessica Bracken at [email protected]

Destin Fire Station:

The Destin Fire Station is now accepting donations to support those impacted my Hurricane Michael and has a detailed description of needs online. From hygiene kits and school supplies to food and cleaning supplies, all items can be dropped off at the main fire station at 848 Airport Road in Destin from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information visit https://www.facebook.com/DestinFireRescue

Frill Seekers:
Destin’s Frill Seekers Gifts in City Market is accepting donations of non-perishable food items, and cleaning supplies for hurricane relief in Panama City. Peyton LoCicero of News Channel 13 and her cameraman Chase are planning to fill up their news trucks with supplies as they try to make their way to the station in Panama City. Frill Seekers Gifts is located at 4495 Furling Lane, Suite 130 within the City Market Bayside in Destin. For more information visit https://www.facebook.com/FrillSeekersGifts/. Donations are accepted from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday

YOLO Board & Beach:
Located in Miramar Beach is accepting supply donations for Hurricane Michael relief at their store at 11610 U.S. Highway 98 West in Miramar Beach. For more information visit https://www.facebook.com/yoloboardandbeach/ or call 850-424-6852.

Boys & Girls Club:

The Boys & Girls Club of the Emerald Coast is taking donations of school supplies, snacks, water, non-perishable foods and athletic supplies. The donation drop-off site is at the South Walton Coys & Girls Club located at 427 Greenway Trail in Santa Rosa Beach. For more information visit http://www.emeraldcoastbgc.org.

Below is a list of items needed:

  • Cash is the best donation at this time
    • Florida Disaster Fund: The Florida Disaster Fund is the State of Florida’s official private fund established to assist Florida’s communities as they respond to and recover during times of emergency or disaster. In partnership with the public sector, private sector and other non-governmental organizations, the Florida Disaster Fund supports response and recovery activities.
      • To make a one-time donation of $10, text the word DISASTER to 20222 and a one-time donation of $10.00 will be added to your mobile phone bill or deducted from your prepaid balance.
      • To make a one-time donation of $25, text the word DISASTER25 to 20222 and a one-time donation of $25.00 will be added to your mobile phone bill or deducted from your prepaid balance.
  • Batteries
  • Cleaning Supplies
  • Paper Goods
  • Hygiene items and Toiletries (diapers, wipes, pads, tampons, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc.)

Walton County has three official drops off sites that are partnering together to collect donations.

If you would like to donate hurricane relief items please drop them off during normal business hours at one of the following locations:

  • DeFuniak Springs: Southern Choice Properties (917 US HWY 331 S, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32435), M-F 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
  • DeFuniak Springs: Matrix COC (37 State Highway 83), M-F 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Sat 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
  • Santa Rosa Beach: Walton Area Chamber Office (63 S. Centre Trail Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459), M-F 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

The Salvation Army will be assisting with the collection and transportation efforts at this official drop off locations.
